WHAT WE DO
Like any other trade association, the
Daytona Beach Area Association of REALTORS' basic purpose is to serve
the needs of its members. But unlike other organizations, the association must also expand its
scope to include services to the thousands of homeowners in the area and to the many
communities in which they live.
The Daytona
Beach Area Association of REALTORS serves its members
as a resource for continuing education, a wide range of committee activities, the Multiple
Listing Service, social events, products and publications.
The association encourages its
members to strive for the highest degree of professionalism in the industry,
by teaching continuing education courses as well as providing training on
our Code of Ethics.
REALTORS volunteer their time to serve on committees
to meet
the needs of members in areas such as Equal Opportunity, Professional Standards,
Education, Legislative, and Political Action.
To facilitate home sales, the association operates a highly efficient, computerized Multiple Listing Service (MLS). With
a sophisticated, web-based
computer system, a home can be effectively marketed to thousands of REALTORS in
Volusia County and beyond.
In addition to providing education and marketing tools to its members, the
association also
enforces the
Code of Ethics each REALTOR subscribes to when
joining the association. This Code, an expression of the highest ideals of the organized
real estate industry, is strictly enforced by the Daytona Beach Area
Association of REALTORS. All
REALTORS, by virtue of their membership in the association, have pledged to uphold the
principles and standards of practice in the Code. It both governs their behavior and
protects them and the public from the abuses of the marketplace.
For over 90 years, members of the Daytona Beach Area
Association of REALTORS have served both
buyers and sellers of homes in the greater Daytona Beach area.
REALTORS hired to sell a home initiate a series of activities designed to make the
process of property transfer orderly and efficient. REALTORS also often work with buyers
who are looking for a home. From first-time buyers to the family that needs a bigger home
to empty nesters, REALTORS are called upon to locate and help buyers realize the
American dream of home ownership.
Members of the association work for both buyers and sellers through two major principles of
the association - equal opportunity and advocacy of private property rights.
Our association celebrates Fair Housing
Month each April and promotes American Home Week each May.
Through political action and legislative committees, board members work behind the
scenes to protect the private property rights of all homeowners from excessive taxes,
inequitable rules, and unfair legislation on all levels from local to state to federal.
