At DBAAR, advocacy is a key part of our mission. We work to protect the interests of real estate professionals, property owners, and the communities we serve. Through our efforts at the local, state, and national levels, we ensure that the voices of REALTORS® and homeowners are heard in legislative decisions impacting property rights, business practices, and community growth.

Our Advocacy Focus

DBAAR’s advocacy initiatives focus on key areas that affect the real estate industry, including:

• Property Rights Protection: We defend the rights of property owners to buy, sell, and manage their properties with minimal restrictions, advocating for fair zoning, land use, and environmental policies.
• Real Estate Taxation and Affordability: We strive to keep homeownership affordable by opposing excessive property taxes, impact fees, and transfer taxes. Our advocacy includes support for tax relief measures that benefit homeowners and promote housing affordability.
• Business-Friendly Legislation: We advocate for laws and policies that support REALTORS® in operating successful businesses. This includes opposing burdensome regulations and promoting policies that encourage a strong, competitive real estate market.
• Sustainable Community Growth: Working alongside local leaders, we promote smart growth strategies that balance development with environmental conservation, ensuring that our communities remain livable and sustainable for future generations.

Local, State, and National Advocacy

DBAAR works with local government officials, participates in Florida REALTORS® advocacy efforts, and collaborates with the National Association of REALTORS® to influence policy decisions at every level:

• Local Advocacy: We engage with city councils and county officials to address issues directly impacting Daytona Beach and surrounding areas, such as property ordinances, development approvals, and community planning.
• State Advocacy: Through Florida REALTORS®, we advocate for state legislation that promotes real estate growth, property rights, and a fair regulatory environment. Members can participate in events like Great American REALTOR® Days in Tallahassee, where REALTORS® meet with lawmakers to discuss critical issues.
• National Advocacy: Partnering with the National Association of REALTORS®, DBAAR supports federal initiatives that impact the real estate industry across the country. We advocate for policies that protect homeownership incentives, promote mortgage accessibility, and uphold private property rights.
